Hi everyone,
This week, we are praying for God’s protection over our husbands and marriages. Stormie provides several verses to guide our prayers, including Psalm 17:7-8, 18:2-3, 23:4, 27:5, and 91:1-2. Please be sure to read chapter 12 in the book and reach out to your prayer partner.

This week we are praying for our husband's health. This area is one where it is easy to nag our husband about what he is eating or how much he is exercising, if he goes to the doctor for regular checkups, etc. Stormie writes about her "shut up and pray method". I think it is a wise philosophy if you are concerned about your husband's health. If he is healthy and doing everything right, pray that it will stay that way. If you are reading the book, pay attention to the prayer on pages 105 &106. It is a good model for how we should be praying this week.
Remember to reach out to your prayer partner for her specific requests and pray for her health concerns as well. We are praying that our husbands will make good choices, that God will fill them with wisdom and understanding. Everyone engages in foolish behavior from time to time. Stormie reminds us that it is not our job to fix them but to love and pray for them. We need to give the Holy Spirit room to work in our husbands thoughts and to give them discernment when making decisions that affect the family.
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." Proverbs 9:10 This week we are praying that our husband will know his purpose. Stormie puts it this way, "Everyone has a purpose. It's the reason we exist. It's our life's mission, objective, or plan. ....Your husband needs to know the reason he exists." She suggests a couple verses that may help you in your prayer time. 2 Timothy 1:9, 2 Thessalonians 1:11 & Ephesians 1:17-19.
We have been at this for a couple of months so you may be growing weary, but my encouragement is that you would continue praying for your own husband, your prayer partner and her husband. This week we are praying about our husband's fears. In the book, Stormie writes, "There are many things in this world to be afraid of...when fear seizes us, tormenting and ruling our lives, we have become captive to it. Men are often susceptible to that without realizing it, they get attacked by the "what if's." What if I can't make enough money? What if something happens to my wife and children? What if I get a terrible disease? What if my business fails?"
You know what specific fears bother your husband. I would encourage you to look up verses that deal with those fears and pray them over your spouse this week. Stormie gives us a few to get started on page 89. I would also encourage you to share your fears with your prayer partner so she can be praying for you too. I sought the LORD and He heard me and delivered me from all my fears. Psalm 34:4 |
